The Engadin Skimarathon is not only the most well-known sporting event in the country, but also a beloved meeting point for the world’s elite. The “Engadiner” is the largest cross-country skiing activity in Switzerland and the second largest worldwide. Furthermore the Engadin Skimarathon is member of World Loppet. Since the first holding in 1969, the international resonance and renown of the event have grown strongly. In 1977, the number of participants breached the ten thousands for the first time. Since then, the number of participants has rounded to 13,000 people per year from roughly 60 different countries. Every year since 1969 on the second Sunday in March, the enormous Swiss cross-country season highlight kicks off. The love of the Engadin Skimarathon remains unbroken to this day; the cross-country skiing experience in beautiful Upper Engadin is unforgettable. The “Marathon Week” opens on the first Sunday in March with the Women’s Race, in which by custom only women can participate. The various side events throughout the week present an attractive offering centered on the cross-country skiing sport. The second Sunday in March presents the Engadin Skimarathon and as the high point for all competitors. Only those who have been there before – as partner or participant – are able to comprehend the emotions brought out by the start in Maloja. All are represented: the relaxed, the experienced, the top-tiered, the hobbyist, the ambitious and the achievement-oriented athlete.

- Groups are formed for 2000-2001, 1998-1999, 1988-1997 years of birth, in 5 year gradation for 1987-1938 years of birth, and for 1937 year of birth and older.
- The winners participants who take 1-6 places in the final standing.
21 XC ½ MARATHON
- Participants of 2003 year of birth and older are admitted
- Groups are formed for 2002-2003, 2000-2001, 1998-1999, 1988-1997 years of birth, 30-39 years, in 5 year gradation for 1987-1938 years of birth, and for 1937 year of birth and older.
- The winners participants who take 1-6 places in the final standing.

Registration and payment are available until 09.03.2018 midnight. After that entries are only possible at the race office at the starting bib distribution site in St. Moritz-Bad, Health Spa Centre until Saturday, 10.03.2018, 17:00

INSURANCE
All participants must have their own accident insurance and they are fully responsible for their own state of health. The event organiser assumes no liability for accidents, lost items, theft or any other damage. Likewise, the organiser declines liability towards spectators and third parties.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Participants with insurance:
In case of illness or accident the insured participant must apply to the below mentioned insurance company directly for reimbursement of the starting fee. If the application is accepted, the insured participant will receive a voucher issued by Datasport in the value of the insured amount.
Participants without insurance
CHF 75.– / € 71.- will be credited for next year's race to any competitor cancelling by 31 December (no refund).
If you fall ill or have an accident after 31 December, NO refund can be credited. We recommend to take out insurance (for example directly when registering online).
Cancellation of the competition
If, for any reason, it is not possible to hold the competition, 80% of the entry fee will be refunded (Entry fee: CHF 20.- / € 19.-) in accordance with ICR. Administrative charge: CHF 80.- / € 76.-). Only that part of the administrative charge which has not already been used can be refunded.

HOW TO GET US?
The train is the best means of transportation. Transportation with Rhaetian Railway from all Rhaetian Railway train stations in canton grisons to St. Moritz / Pontresina / Samedan (return ticket, second class) included. The trip from Landquart - Chur is included on Rhaetian Railway trains only. The required personalized electronical special ticket will be sent by e-mail together with the starting bib voucher. The journey to the Engadin needs to take part between 3 and 11 March 2018, return journey no later than 13 March 2018 (Women's Race 6 March 2018).

WHERE TO STAY?
From end of October the office of the Engadin Skimarathon can arrange inexpensive dormitories in civil defence centres and school buildings. Detailed information as well as the booking form can be found here. Payment for dormitories must be made by mid-February at the latest. A refund is not possible.

PLACE
The race passes through Engadin valley. The start is in the Maloja. Finish of 21 km race is in Pontresina, 42 km - S-chanf. The central town is St. Moritz.
ORGANIZERS
The association Engadin Skimarathon and the eleven Engadin ski clubs Maloja, Sils, Corvatsch-Silvaplana, Suvretta-Champfèr, Alpina St. Moritz, Trais Fluors Celerina, Bernina-Pontresina, Piz Ot Samedan, La Punt, Zuoz and Sarsura Zernez are responsible for the organisation and realisation.
