The Big Alpinist Marathon originates in the early seventies. Irkutsk’s strongest climbers decided to test themselves for endurance on the ski trail laid through the Siberian taiga.There were two distances: small 21km and big - 35km. In 1981 a marathon called Big Alpinist, and the “big” distance increased to 50km.
The Irkutsk city name is derived from the name of the river Irkut, where Siberian jail was founded in 1661. The capital of Eastern Siberia, the city museum, Irkutsk could keep romantic shape of old times.
In the 19th century Eastern Siberia was the main place of a political exile of Russian intellectuals and educated people, Decembrists.
Unique Lake Baikal (640 km length, up to 80 km width, 1637 meters depth of) is in 60 km from Irkutsk.

50 CL XC MARATHON
- Participants of 1999 year of birth and older are admitted
- Groups are formed for 1998-1999 years of birth, 1995-1997 years of birth, in 5 year gradation for 1944-1994 years of birth, and for 1943 year of birth and older.
- The winners are participants who take 1-3 places in the final standing, 1-3 places in "alpine standing" and 1 place in each group.
36 CL XC ½ MARATHON
- Participants of 2003 year of birth and older are admitted
- Groups are formed without gradation for 2000-2003 year of birth and 1999 years of birth and older.
- The winners are participants who take 1-3 places in each group.
22 CL XC ½ MARATHON JUNIOR
- Participants of 2005 year of birth and older are admitted
- Groups are formed in 2 year gradation for 2002-2005 year of birth
- The winners are participants who take 1-3 places in each group.

ENTRY FEE
The amount of entry fee until 10.02.2018:
50 XC – 800 rub
36 XC – 800 rub
22 XC JUNIOR – 500 rub
If entries are available 11.02 - 03.03.2018:
50 XC – 1 200 rub
36 XC – 1 200 rub
22 XC JUNIOR – 800 rub
If entries are available on race day 10.03.2018:
60 XC – 1 600 rub
30 XC – 1 600 rub
30 XC JUNIOR – 1 000 rub
BIBS
Distribution of starting bibs is carried out 10.03.2018 from 9.00 till 11.45 on start place.
Participant may register and pay the entry fee on the race day from 9:00 to 11:45 on start place in a queue.
INSURANCE
To receive a bib, participants must provide identification document; original of the medical certificate dated not before 6 months until the date of the competition with the seal of the issuing institution, doctor’s signature, and indication of permission to participate in the competition in the selected distance race; personal life, health, and accident insurance; and fill out a claim on personal responsibility for their own health.
CANCELLATION POLICY
In case of illness or absence, race cancellation due to the bad weather conditions or circumstance beyond the control of the organizers, the entry fee will not be refunded. It is also possible to change the race distance in case of vacant bibs.
The pre-registration is possible only with written application sent to the Race Office email until 03.03.2018.
Participants starting the race under false name will be disqualified.

HOW TO REACH US?
By suburban train: from Irkutsk to the station Ogonki (to the east in Slyudyanka the fifth stop after the station Bolshoi Lug). By car or taxi 40 km from Irkutsk by the M55 to Shelekhov (10 km). Before Shelekhov turn off from the main road towards the station Bolshoi Lug (15km), then along a dirt road to the station Ogonki (10km).
